I recently started playing again and refuse to use any of the coins or whatever power-ups that have been made available. I am certain my opponents are using them, however, I still regularly win using my word knowledge, specific strategy and whatever luck from the draw. Words played that are defined as the “exposed root of the dentraxis plant found in the Sudanese desert during summers eaten by migrating Bonteboks” is so obviously a “paid for” play that it’s ridiculous*.
(*I made up the word definition to make a point)

As for using Swap+, I am actually in the middle of a game right now where I had all consonants (which caused me to Google this page) so I added the few “S” tiles I had for low word scores and finally got some vowels. Now, I am evened up and I think since I got those lower word scores, my opponent kept their score lower as well just to stay above mine! Funny how the psychology of it all pans out.

For a short while I got into buying coins in order to use Swap+. I bought three lots of 480 coins and made frequent letter swaps. But I won’t be buying them anymore. Why? Because ever since I started to use Swap+ heavily, WWF is dealing me worse and worse hands. It’s a real con and I’m not prepared to waste any more money on coins. Have others noticed this?

Yeah that would be a nice option...or at least let us know if our opponent is using them. That way everyone's on the same page and the game is fair.

This feature sucks. for example: I have e almost all vowels in my hand. so I was 3 vowels. what do I get? 3 more vowels.
things like this happen all the time when swapping.

I think Swap Plus is a good idea.

I’m a fairly high level player. My word average is near 30. I eventually beat all opponents, evem if it takes a coupla games.
But I still get stuck in a rut if I have a string of 6-vowel or 6-consonant sets. There’s very little even the most capable player can do with this. And at times it can take 3 or 4 goes until you get back to a reasonable set. In the meantime uour opponent can string together several double- or triple scpres and gallop 100+ points clear and then the game is usually lost.
The best games are against an opponent of similar, or superior ability, and are close til the end.
What I also find is that someone who’s much weaker than me does not get a noticeable leg-up through using Swap Plus. This is because even though they might be able to maintain a good set of 7, if their vocab is not as large, their general knowledge not as broad, they won’t get a big advantage over me.
So I think it equalises. It doesn’t artificially enhance.
One last comment- I’m finding that my strongest opponents are Brits. Maybe the app is not sending me prompts to play North Americans, but very few are showing up with a word average equivalent to or better than mine. And none have beaten me.
Just saying….
So I think that being able

Isn’t viewing the tile bag a form of cheating?
Or isn’t the maximum word indicator also a form of cheating?
I don’t think you should pick n choose. It’s the design of the game.
